Project Overview

As an intern for the African American Achievement Leadership Initiative (AAALI), a program part of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), I helped create print materials for their events and social media posts.

Black Family Day

I created a hashtag sign and an event timeline to help celebrate Black Family Day, an event dedicated to supporting students transitioning between various levels of education from Pre-K to Kindergarten to 12th grade to college.

African American College Signing Day 2018

For this event, I created an invitation and event program for the African American College Signing Day. This event celebrated all African American students in the SFUSD district who graduated from high school.

Social Media Posts

AAALI had two social media campaigns during the summer.

The first campaign consisted of interviews with African American students, SFUSD staff, and parents of African American students. We highlighted their experiences with SFUSD and how they uplift African American students or, if they were a student themselves, what their aspirations are.

With the second campaign, I interviewed members of the SFUSD community about who their Black Hero is.

All campaign posts from March 2018 – June 2018 are viewable on the AAALI Facebook page.
